When asked about providing more after-school activities for children and teenagers, Mid-Hudson Valley residents generally do not rank these activities as highly as they do the need to improve the quality of public schools.
Still, providing more after-school activities is among Mid-Hudson Valley residents’ top ten priorities for the region. 31% of residents give this priority the top rating of 10.
On average residents in the region rate providing more after-school activities with a score of 7.4 out of 10 relatively unchanged from the average rating of 7.3 in 2002.
At the county level, providing more after-school activities for children and teenagers is ranked highest among residents of Greene County. Residents in the county rank it among their top five priorities.
Not surprisingly, households with children under the age of eighteen are somewhat more likely than Mid-Hudson Valley residents as a whole to value after-school activities for children. Single parents and parents with low income are even more likely to do so.
After-school activities are also an important concern for both African American and Latino residents. African American residents rate this issue with an average score of 8.3, and Latino residents give it an average rating of 8.0.
