Housing

A notable portion of Columbia County residents are financially challenged to meet their monthly rent or mortgage payment.  Forty-three percent of residents say this expense poses a great deal or a good amount of strain on their family budget.  However, this situation seems to have improved for some families since five years ago.  In 2007, 51% said rent or mortgage payments represented a considerable financial burden.  In 2012, 23% of Columbia County residents say rent or mortgage fees pose no strain at all compared with 16% in 2007.
