A Survey of the Mid-Hudson Region

A Look at the Counties:
Children with Gaps in Health Insurance
Looking at the different counties that make up the Mid-Hudson region, there are differences in the proportion of children who benefit from uninterrupted health insurance coverage. In Putnam County, 92% of households with children have a continuous health plan. 85% of households in Dutchess and Orange Counties with children went without breaks in coverage for their children.

About one in five households with children in Ulster, Columbia, and Sullivan Counties had to deal with the challenge of maintaining health insurance coverage. 19% of households with children in Ulster County and 17% in both Columbia and Sullivan Counties have at least one child with a gap in health insurance.

The highest rate of households with children with gaps in coverage is found in Greene County where 23% of households with children went without continuous coverage in the past year.
