A substantial proportion of households in Dutchess County struggle with stressful financial burdens. Residents were asked whether or not they had encountered in the past twelve months several economic difficulties such as problems paying for food, housing costs, utility bills, or medical treatment.
While 77% of Dutchess County households have not had to face any of these economic hardships over the past year, 23% mentioned at least one. This figure is comparable to the proportion of residents in the Mid-Hudson region as a whole who have to deal with these types of economic hardships.
