Education

Public education ranks among the top five highest priorities in every county.  In Putnam County, it places fifth.

Residents in Putnam County remain the most upbeat about their schools’ quality compared with other counties in the Mid-Hudson Valley.  Eighty-seven percent of Putnam County residents now think well of the public schools in their community, comparable to the 82% who had this view in 2007.  There has been one change in the county.  Like in 2002, almost one in five Putnam County residents now rates their schools as excellent.  Thirteen percent did so five years ago.
