Many Voices One Valley

A Survey of the Mid-Hudson Region

Rating Public Transportation
Most residents in the Mid-Hudson region do not rate the public transportation available in their community positively.  32% describe public transportation as poor, and another 31% rate it as just fair.
There has been no change in residents’ opinions about the quality of public transportation since 2002.  Interestingly, commuters who use public transportation to travel to work are only slightly more positive about the quality of public transportation services than Mid-Hudson Valley residents as a whole.
Although most residents in each of the Mid-Hudson Valley counties do not have a positive view of public transportation, residents living in Greene and Sullivan Counties are the most negative.  54% of Sullivan County residents and 60% of Greene County residents rate the availability of public transportation in their community as poor.  This is not surprising given the limited access to these services for many of the communities in these counties.
